The Supreme Court rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s plea on Monday, challenging the Gujarat high court’s decision not to dismiss summons in a defamation case related to his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualifications.

The bench, comprising Justices Hrishikesh Roy and S V N Bhatti, referenced a similar plea by AAP leader Sanjay Singh, which was dismissed earlier this year.

The bench stated, “We must have a consistent approach.”

The Gujarat high court had denied requests from both Singh and Kejriwal on February 16 to quash the summons issued in the case.

The case, initiated by Gujarat University, followed a trial court’s summons and subsequent rejection of the politicians’ revision pleas by a sessions court.
