The high court has criticized the state govt for the poor condition of roads. While considering petitions regarding the deteriorating state of roads and illegal billboards on footpaths, the bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran remarked that every life is precious and should not be lost due to the negligence of authorities.
The bench noted that the worsening condition of the roads could lead to the public losing faith in the system.
It asked how the roads reached such a deplorable state despite the involvement of numerous engineers.
The high court demanded reports from the public works department (PWD) and national highways authority of India (NHAI) regarding the current status of the roads and sought details on the construction of the Aroor-Thuravoor Elevated Highway.
