The Appellate Authority has allowed the appeal filed by Voltas Limited against the demand order of the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Cuttack – I City Circle, Odisha, according to the exchange filing.

The Deputy Commissioner levied a demand of ₹4,41,49,977/- (including interest) with respect to disallowance of Input Tax Credit (ITC) and imposed a penalty of ₹29,23,999/-, under the provisions of Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and Odisha Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.

The penlaty was imposed for mismatch in ITC claimed in GSTR-3B and ITC available in GSTR-2A due to non-filing of the GST Returns by some of the vendors.

The Appellate Authority has dropped the entire demand (including penalty).
