The Additional Commissioner, Directorate of Commercial Taxes, West Bengal has upheld the order of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Revenue against HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited, according to the exchange filing.
The GST Appellate Authority, West Bengal passed an order confirming the demand raised in the original order.
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Revenue, B.I. (South Bengal), Head Quarters, West Bengal State imposed a GST order demanding tax – ₹26,04,168; Interest – ₹26,31,422; Penalty – ₹2,60,416
The order was from the period of July 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018, on the grounds of an erroneous determination of common credit and reversal of the input tax credit proportionately.
‘The said Order is appealable before the GST Appellate Tribunal. The Company will file its appeal within the specified period,” said HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited in the exchange filing.
